Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami is one of the most celebrated Hindu festivals. According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Krishna, the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on this day. Therefore it is called Krishna Janmashtami.
Based on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of the International Society for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness as given in his various books like Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavatam,
and Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita, we have prepared this manual to address the above needs. We have also consulted scholars and experienced devotees who have practiced the principles of Kṛṣṇa bhakti in their lives for a long number of years. We are happy to present this short manual of Sri Kṛṣṇa Janmashtami Vrata, in the documents below. The documents also contain links to the videos by which you can practically learn the various items of Janmashtami Vrata.
